Read through your entire recipe at least once before starting. Then gather all the necessary ingredients and equipment before starting.

Candy making often requires slow cooking, constant stirring and/or your undivided attention. Make sure you have enough time to complete a project.

Weather does have an effect on candy making. The most preferable weather is clear and cool.

If your recipe calls for butter, it is best to start with butter that is at room temperature.

Only use high quality ingredients.

Food coloring and flavoring should be the last ingredients that are added. Excess heat may alter color and flavor.

Use hot water and mild soap to clean up after making candy. Hardened candy can be difficult to clean up, so it is recommended to clean up immediately after making the candy.

Remember to be patient with your creations. As you gain more experience with candy making, the end products will look better and better.
